LA FOCE
Detail

La Foce is the renowned historic estate in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, currently owned by the Marchioness Benedetta Origo. It was envisioned and designed by the Marquis Antonio Origo and his wife, Iris. It is a magnificent example of the fusion of Italian and English architecture.

The estate encompasses the renowned late fifteenth-century villa, its surrounding Italian garden, the farm, and numerous farmhouses, now used for as a holiday farm as well as exclusive venues for private events and artistic or cultural initiatives.

Since 2006, the Nannini company is dedicated to the restoration and enhancement of this extraordinary complex. As these are prestigious buildings, protected by the Fine Arts and intended for luxury stays, weddings, and events, the interventions demand precise scheduling, careful selection of materials, and meticulous restoration of the existing structures.

The main interventions concerned:

Façades of the historic villa, finished with lime plaster and breathable paint, effectively resolving issues of rising damp and lateral moisture.

Building roofs, featuring complete or partial replacement of wooden structures and brickwork, using recycled materials to maintain the original appearance. Thermal-acoustic insulation solutions using natural, breathable materials have also been incorporated.

Stone walls and pathways, dry-restored using the original stones, both within the historic garden and in the courtyards surrounding the buildings.
