Podere Trafonti, located in Montefollonico in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, was an old farm complex that needed to be revitalized with an environmentally conscious approach, transforming it into a luxury environmentally-friendly hospitality estate.
To achieve this goal, we paid particular attention to the selection of materials, choosing only those that guarantee high safety standards and strong environmental sustainability.
The result is a renovated estate built with ecological techniques and natural materials, perfectly harmonised with the surrounding Tuscan landscape.
The main interventions:
- Building consolidation: the structure, originally without foundations, was underpinned using reinforced concrete beams, executed in sequential sections and supported by appropriate shoring to ensure both structural stability and worker safety throughout the process.
- Interiors: ventilated ceilings and metal frames were installed, while natural plaster with laminated finishes was applied to the walls.
- Diversified floors: travertine, wood and resin.
- Roof slab: constructed entirely in wood, incorporating special phenolic panels in maple and birch. Thermal insulation was achieved using wood fibre panels combined with waterproof, breathable membranes. Finally, traditional roofing and reclaimed tiles were selected for the roof finish.
- Pool: constructed in reinforced concrete, finished with resin, and complemented by stone flooring.
- Terraces and walls crafted from locally sourced stone, hand-cut and laid with irregular techniques.
- Exteriors: façade and wall joints were re-pointed with lime mortar, and the surfaces were gently cleaned using soft-bristled brushes. For the exterior flooring, square stones were selected and dry-laid over a sand bed.
